This coming weekend, I will be up at the grist mill, once again, in Loudonville to present a show of recent New Mexico paintings during the annual "wine festival". Here is an example of one of the paintings from that show: it is called: "New Mexico Scene #1, May, 2016". It is mixed media on paper. All together, there will be about ten works on paper; all mixed media.

We are nearing the end of our seasonal stay in New Mexico. I have greatly enjoyed both a colored pencil workshop and the Friday live model sketching sessions at the New Mexico Art League here in Albuquerque. Many thanks to Les, the guy who seems to work tirelessly to bring the Friday sessions (and models) to the site every Friday without failure. He is a great guy.
I am posting a photo of a painting I did back in the 90s of some roses in a vase apres Renoir. I am thinking of my friend, from class, Rose, who was there most Fridays from Santa Fe. Her portrait sketching skills are awesome, and she is one of the people I will miss from that class. I hope they will all still be there when we return in November, 2016. Many thanks to all of you for your acceptance and inspiration to draw from the live model!

This is a portrait of the late, great expressionist painter, Franz Marc, who was killed in WWI. It is one of my wife's favorite paintings. He died 100 years ago this year. I painted this portrait back in the 1990s. The painting now hangs in the gallery of our home in New Mexico. He loved to paint animals in vibrant colors!
